  • November 11, 2009  CADint releases v. 4.0.2
Highlights of the great new changes in V4.0.2

Besides the normal description of changes below:

(ADMIN) Library managers extend "locking" of objects. It is not possible to
change contents of library object, when opened for edit.

(ADMIN) Library managers perform "validation" of objects names for invalid
characters and allowed length supported by underling system, (ADMIN) Library
manager "Folder" library is coding names of locked files to allow of use
characters invalid for "plain" underlying windows file system.

(PARTNUMBER) Alternative PCB override symbol can be resolved and searched by
defined in Part Reference list of allowed PCB symbols,

(PARTREF)New part reference tool allows mapping of schematics group(s) to
PCB symbol by unique names of schematics pins. This "one" to "one" mapping
of pins (from all groups) to PCB pads.

(SCH+PCB) Engine generates "template" schematics and PCB symbols when
search/resolve routine can't find requested object. That simplifies data
flow between Schematics and PCB designers. Such "undefined template" symbol
can be defined later in the process and is not slowing down current design.

(PCB+SCH)AutoCAD DXF import has corrected MTEXT support for direction axes
some times used instead of "plain" rotation angle,

The PCB changes are the most exciting

(PCB+SCH) "PreView" text in preview windows for Schematics and PCB can be
toggled on/off by middle mouse button click

The following features make doing actual PCB design work 50 times faster.
Why ? Because most if not ALL of the interactive router features can now be
used in the normal route mode, AND the same tool bar is now in interactive
    router. What is the advantage?

(PCB)Interactive router is now implemented as a View of PCB design, where
conversion of data structures applies when necessary on the flow.

(PCB)Interactive router supports now Auto-Backup functionality.

(PCB)Interactive router commands are "decorated" with "IRoute-xxx" prefix,
IRoute-Trace, IRoute-Move etc. When you use them in Interactive Router
Design Mode, engine works faster because not any data conversion is
    performed.

Any where you see "IRoute-" on front of any action (route, move, add via,
etc.) this feature is useable in normal routing mode. You can created a new
hot button on the tool bar for each one. Don't forget to program "enable
    push/shove."

    Examples of the new features:

When you have an air gap error and the arrow is pointing to the area, when
you go to interactive router the arrows go away, making it take longer to
make the corrections as you need to go back and forth. NOW you can make ALL
the corrections in the normal route mode using ALL interactive router
    features.

How often have you needed to re-design an existing PCB board and needed to
go back and forth between route and interactive router? The problem use to
be that you could not ADD traces in the interactive router mode, you could
however re-route an existing route to a new shape.

Well now you can add a new trace in interactive router, BUT EVEN better you
can do ALL of your work in the normal route mode, because ALL interactive
router features are now in normal route mode including re-route an existing
    route to a new shape.

NEW "Measure Clearance" (under tools) is a great new feature

How often have you needed to know the distance between traces and/or pads
and/or traces to pads well the. Being able to design or re-design, correct
errors and take measurements then corrective action ALL in the normal PCB
Design mode really does make doing work faster.

When you leave interactive router be very careful as how you go back, Always
go back to "Tool" to return to the normal PCBDesign.(ADMIN) This update is a new revision.
  • 4.00 Release date is December 2008. Free update for all customers with a valid maintenance agreement.
(PCB+SCH) New external storage format. PCB jobs, schematic designs, symbols are not backward compatible with earlier versions of CADintPCB.
(ADMIN) New UI layout based on Outlook. PCB jobs, schematics designs and other design elements are organized in libraries, contents list and pre-view panel.
(ADMIN) User-Configuration login replaced by a visible WorkSpace tree, which you can expand down. WorkSpace "remembers" only set of libraries and current folder assignments. All other setup information is global to workstation.
(ADMIN) You can open as many windows you wish in CADint PCB for PCB, Schematics and other editors, so CADint PCB is limited to one instance of program per workstation.
(PCB+SCH) You can open *.scl/*.scl files from explorer by dropping them on main CADint PCB window.
(PCB+SCH) Open PCB and Schematic "expose" local library to symbol manager, so you can copy/paste and edit local libraries.
(PCB+SCH) Text/Annotate Text primitive supports now True Type fonts.
(SCH) New image primitive. You can display, move, stretch and copy any image in format recognized by Windows OLE image library.
(PCB) Board Outline. New "Cut" layer.
(PCB) Board Outline. Can be constructed of set of closed figures from "Outline Build" and "Outline Cut Build" layers.
(PCB) Board component is now an "internal" object of PCB. Board component can be only edited, replaced or referenced (for contact points) by user.
(PCB) Many commands check if board is legal - > Board MUST contain one piece of material with cut-outs.

  • July 6, 2006  CADint releases v. 3.80
(ADMIN) This version is a new release. Release date is July 2006. Impact on customers: requested new passwords for Schema and PCB options. Free update for customers who purchased CADINT PCB April 2006 and later, free update for all customers with valid maintenance agreement.
(PCB+SCH) New external storage format. PCB jobs, schematics designs, symbols are not backward compatible with earlier versions of CADint PCB.
    (PCB) Symbol Text Entry Name.
(PCB) Gerber driver. Disable polygons option is using Fill line width to build up polygon as scan lines. For polygons where OutlineWidth < defined Fill line Width. Polygons outlines are adjusted for new polygon outline.
(PCB) Pour Engine. Corrected blind pad support for components placed on bottom side.
(PCB) Spiral. Added Length in prompt. Spiral placed on copper layers is converted to trace in new temporary net.
(PCB) Spiral. Added build as pair. Selectable directions CCW/CW.
(PCB) Added VCut layer. Exported as Gerber Extended. Place primitive WIDE LINE, line width is used only for presentation on screen, not physical assignment. Line is adjusted to orthogonal for Create, Stretch. Move, Copy.
(PCB) Component. Added attribute FIXED for Move/Stretch/Delete. Property FIXED converted.
(PCB) Component. Removed attribute MIRROR. It is no way to mirror PCB component.
(PCB) Stretch/Move/Copy added option FLIP. Flip changes layer of selected primitives to mirrored in Layer StackUp. Example Copper Top <-> Copper Bottom. When PCB component is involved Flip forces Mirror and vice versa and PCB component flips between Component Top <-> Component Bottom.
(PCB) Added new manufacturing layer PeelOffMask Top/Bottom.
(PCB) Added new manufacturing layer CarbonPaste Top/Bottom.
    (PCB) Board component created initially with attribute FIXED = TRUE;

CADint is actively looking for distributors in several regional areas.
Most of EE Designer's former distributors have become very active again, and we are excited about their performance, but there are several areas available in the US and Canada, and we feel that we have a lot to offer people that are interested in helping us follow up with all of our leads. Although our staff has grown considerably, we would like to reward anyone who is interested in expanding our user base. Please contact your regional representative for more information and an application. Successful representative profiles include service bureaus, CAD dealerships, and especially companies that are dissatisfied with the companies they currently represent--reads in almost every other CAD program, and if we don't read yours in currently, give us a week or two, we can have an interface within days as our interface group has many years of experience. We care about our partners and offer flexible terms and agreements to suit your needs.
